The Solicitor General and I have many tasks but few give us as much pleasure as our association with the legal profession's pro bono work. Historically and today the giving of free legal advice by lawyers to those who otherwise would not have access to legal help, has always been accepted as part and parcel of their responsibility to society. Whether in advice or community centres, supporting other voluntary activities, in schools, international work, or in the courts, the provision of and enthusiasm for pro boon work is a feature of which the legal profession should be justifiably proud.
